Contrairement à une élection classique, où le lauréat gagne une certaine reconnaissance, une renommée ou un prix, le terme qui reçoit le titre de « mot horrible de l’année » porte la condamnation officielle de la communauté linguistique germanophone pour son utilisation lexicale enfreignant les normes communicatives de respect de l’autre dans son discours. Cette contribution revient sur cette tradition linguistique outre-Rhin et sur le dernier lauréat en date « alternative Fakten ». Présentée comme un « mensonge communicatif », l’utilisation de « faits alternatifs » dans l’argumentation requiert une attention particulière car il marque une tendance argumentative nouvelle importée des locuteurs politiques des États-Unis et faussant la vérité. The so-called “horrible word of the year” election has been taking place in Germany since 1991. Unlike a usual election, where the winner earns either fame or a special prize, the term elected as “horrible word of the year” is officially disapproved of by the German-speaking community because of its lexical use, thus breaching the communicative norms of respect for the other in their speech. This paper focuses upon this German linguistic tradition and analyses the last “horrible word of the year”, which is “alternative facts”. The use of the phrase “alternative facts” in the argumentation is presented as a “communicative lie” and shows a new argumentative trend from American politicians who deliver fake news in their speech. Seit 1991 findet in Deutschland eine besondere Wahl – das „Unwort des Jahres“ – statt. Im Gegensatz zu einer klassischen Wahl, in der die oder der Gewählte mehr Anerkennung und Ruhm genießt oder einen Preis gewinnt, erlangt das zum „Unwort des Jahres“ gekürte Wort die offizielle Verurteilung der deutschsprachigen Gemeinschaft, denn sein lexikalischer Gebrauch verletzt die kommunikativen Normen im Bereich des Respekts des Anderen. Für die Analyse erweist sich das letzte „Unwort des Jahres“, nämlich der Ausdruck „alternative Fakten“, als besonders interessant.
