L'éducation interculturelle, telle qu'on l’entend de nos jours, est fortement immergée dans la société où elle s'opère, en agissant sur des objets différents. Les enfants japonais élevés en dehors de l'Archipel juste après la guerre en Chine ou dans les années 1970 ainsi que les immigrés latino-américains dans les années 1990 en sont des illustrations. La représentation de l'interculturel varie en fonction du contexte de l'émergence de la notion, commençant par l'aspect thérapeutique jusqu'à la communication interpersonnelle, sans oublier pour autant la présence des minorités sociales. This article aims to highlight the values of the contextualization of the scientific notion in the human sciences, in particular in the didactics of languages, taking the intercultural as an example par excellence. Intercultural education as we understand it today is strongly immersed in the society in which it operates, by acting on different objects; Japanese children brought up outside the Archipelago just after the war in China or in the 1970s, as well as Latin American immigrants in the 1990s, for example, are illustrations of intercultural studies.
