This acknowledgment led to an interest in investigating the relationship between conceptualizations of magic and emotions in Íslendingasǫgur. Given the presence of both emotional discourses and magical elements in Egils saga, this article aims to provide an overview of magical occurrences from Egils saga and examine their emotional reactions, to discover whether the ambivalent, mostly anti-social connotations of Old Norse magic may be revised. Furthermore, this analysis seeks to determine whether magic may be regarded as an alternate emotional discourse. Analyzing the saga from this perspective could allow us to access a better understanding of magic and emotion in Old Norse literary representations, and provide a fresh viewpoint on a material that has already received significant attention. Bien que les recherches sur la magie et les émotions dans les sources narratives norroises soient limitées, quelques chercheurs étudiant les sources médiévales occidentales ont proposé des interprétations pertinentes, soulignant l’importance des émotions comme étant à l’origine de l’utilisation de la magie. Ce constat a ainsi suscité un intérêt pour l’étude de la relation entre les conceptualisations de la magie et des émotions dans les Íslendingasǫgur. Au regard de la présence de discours émotionnels et d’épisodes magiques dans la Egils saga, cet article présente une typologie des différents épisodes magiques de la saga et se propose d’examiner les potentielles correspondances émotionnelles, afin de déterminer si les connotations ambivalentes (mais principalement antisociales) de la magie norroise peuvent être révisées. En outre, cet article cherche à déterminer si la magie peut être considérée comme un discours émotionnel alternatif.
