L’un des traits communs à ces écrivains est qu’ils ne sont jamais étroitement spécialisés : ainsi Luigi Bossi Visconti est un traducteur ; Giuseppe Acerbi est un diplomate, journaliste et voyageur, tandis que Francesco Miniscalchi-Erizzo est un homme politique, polygraphe orientaliste et géographe qui a participé aux premiers travaux de la Société italienne de géographie. Même si ces auteurs sont toujours apparentés pour avoir traité des peuples de l’Arctique, ils ont proposé des horizons herméneutiques différents sur le Grand Nord. En cinquante ans, les perspectives analytiques des géographes ont changé, s’adressant notamment à l’exploitation des données anthropologiques afin d’examiner la société. This contribution analyses the writings of three Italian scholars who studied the Arctic regions, in particular Luigi Bossi Visconti (1758-1835), Giuseppe Acerbi (1773-1846) and Francesco Miniscalchi-Erizzo (1811-1875). One of the common features of these writers is that they are never narrowly specialized : Luigi Bossi Visconti is a translator ; Giuseppe Acerbi is a diplomat, journalist and traveller, and Francesco Miniscalchi-Erizzo is a politician, orientalist and geographer who took part in the Italian Geographical Society. Although these authors are still related in their treatment of the peoples of the Arctic, they have proposed different hermeneutical horizons on the Far North.
