The impact has been felt across both central and historically significant neighbourhoods, as well as peripheral districts. Urban planning initiatives, including City 62 and Promenadstaden, have all placed significant emphasis on the concept of a city centre with appealing shopping facilities. However, these initiatives have also served to strengthen the concept of metronormativity, whereby the notion of centrality is reduced to the productive and capitalist values of consumption and accumulation.Drawing from both urban planning documents, Ruben Östlund’s film The Square and the novel Cigarett by Per Hagman, this article aims at investigating how literature and cinema have dealt with such changes and contributed to a new city perception. La ville de Stockholm a subi d’importantes transformations architecturales et urbaines après la Seconde Guerre mondiale. Les conséquences se sont fait sentir tant dans les quartiers centraux et historiquement importants que dans les quartiers périphériques. Les initiatives d’urbanisme, notamment City 62 et Promenadstaden, ont toutes mis l’accent sur le concept d’un centre-ville doté d’infrastructures commerciales attrayantes. Cependant, ces initiatives ont également contribué à renforcer le concept de métronormativité, selon lequel la notion de centralité est réduite aux valeurs productives et capitalistes de consommation et d’accumulation.
