Written, recorded and shot during the COVID-19 pandemic, this project, presented as a “letter” from the band’s homeland to the rest of the world, offers some considerations on the geographical North at the time of the ecological crisis. Setting the (rather formulaic) message against the more complex medialities in which it is framed, this article aims at showing how the “true north” that emerges in this project is more linked to an artistic identity shaped by alterity and circumstantial negotiations than to any essentialized geographical space. Cet article étudie le projet multimédia True North (2022) du groupe pop norvégien, sorti à la fois sous forme d’un album musical et d’un film. Écrit, enregistré et tourné pendant la pandémie de COVID-19, ce projet, présenté comme une « lettre » de la patrie du groupe au reste du monde, propose quelques réflexions sur le Nord géographique à l’heure de la crise écologique.
