L’étude souligne qu’au sein du massif vosgien, les Vosges du Nord constituent un territoire à part. Elle met en évidence les crises et transitions qui ont transformé ces espaces, notamment les déterritorialisations. Toutefois, loin d’être abandonnée, cette partie de la moyenne montagne vosgienne est aujourd’hui réinvestie par ses acteurs locaux, qui œuvrent à sa revalorisation par des projets d’ingénierie territoriale. L’habitabilité et l’interconnexion entre les acteurs apparaissent comme des leviers essentiels pour renforcer l’identité et l’attractivité de ces territoires. Ainsi, la moyenne montagne est un espace habité, identifié et porteur de dynamiques collectives contribuant à sa pérennité. Ce processus innovant, illustré notamment par le programme Avenir Montagnes, montre comment les crises, les dynamiques d’acteurs et les projets territoriaux recréent un espace vivable, viable et attractif, tout en renforçant son identité et sa résilience. The Northern Vosges range is a territory with strong identities, structured between the Pays de Bitche and the Southern Moselle Vosges. The study reminds us that within the Vosges mountains, the Northern Vosges is a territory apart. It highlights the crises and transitions that have transformed these spaces, in particular deterritorializations. However, far from being abandoned, this lower part of the Vosges mid-mountain range is being reinvested by its local actors, who are working to redevelop it through territorial engineering projects. Habitability and interconnection between the actors appear to be essential levers for strengthening the identity and attractiveness of these territories. Thus, the mid-mountain area is an inhabited space, identified and the bearer of collective dynamics contributing to its sustainability.
